Penn Entertainment is expanding its ESPN Bet sportsbook presence by rebranding 10 additional casino sportsbooks following its $1.5 billion partnership with ESPN and the sale of Barstool Sports.

The new ESPN Bet locations will include:

  • Ameristar Casino Hotel Council Bluffs (Iowa)
  • Hollywood Casinos in Grantville, York, and Washington (Pennsylvania)
  • Hollywood Gaming racinos in Youngstown and Dayton (Ohio)
  • Ameristar Casino Black Hawk (Colorado)
  • Ameristar East Chicago and Hollywood Lawrenceburg (Indiana)
  • Hollywood Casino Charles Town (West Virginia)

These additions join existing ESPN Bet sportsbooks in Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, and Ohio. The platform is now available online in 19 states.

The transition follows Penn's previous partnership with Barstool Sports, which ended in August 2023 when Penn sold the brand back to Dave Portnoy for $1 after regulatory challenges. Penn had initially invested $527 million in Barstool through two transactions.

Currently, ESPN Bet controls approximately 3-4% of the legal sports betting market, while FanDuel and DraftKings dominate with about 74% combined market share. The ESPN partnership includes integration of betting odds into ESPN programming and the ability for customers to link their ESPN accounts with the ESPN Bet mobile app.

The expansion marks a significant shift from Penn's earlier sports betting operations, which were previously managed through William Hill before transitioning to Barstool and now ESPN Bet. The first of the new ESPN Bet facilities will open at Hollywood Casino York this Saturday, coinciding with the NFL Playoffs.
