Chippendales Dancers File Labor Complaint Following Union Retaliation
Chippendales dancers have filed an unfair labor practices complaint with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) following allegations of union-busting tactics and retaliation by Chippendales Entertainment, LLC.
Magic Mike Live performers on stage
The complaint, filed in October 2024 with NLRB's Region 28 office, comes after the dancers joined the Actors' Equity Association. The performers allege that management forced all dancers to reaudition for their positions, resulting in the dismissal of known union supporters.
Brooke Shields, president of the Actors' Equity Association, condemned these actions as illegal and called for immediate reinstatement of discharged dancers. The union, representing over 51,000 professional actors and stage managers, has requested an NLRB injunction to recognize them as the dancers' bargaining representative.
The dancers claim they are significantly underpaid compared to other Las Vegas Strip performers. This dispute comes as Chippendales prepares to relocate from their 20-year home at Rio Hotel & Casino to the Mat Franco Theater at The Linq on January 14.
Show Schedule:
- Tuesday through Sunday
- Two shows on Fridays and Saturdays
- Eight performances weekly
The 2025 Chippendales tour is scheduled to run from March through November, despite the ongoing labor dispute.
The Actors' Equity Association continues to advocate for improved workplace conditions and "world-class" wages befitting the performers' status, calling for public support of the dancers during this period of labor uncertainty.
