US Commercial Gaming Revenue Hits Record $17.7B in Q3 2024, Led by Online Growth

Commercial gaming revenue hit a record $17.71 billion in Q3 2024, marking an 8.1% year-over-year increase and the industry's 15th consecutive quarter of growth, according to the American Gaming Association (AGA).

Brick-and-mortar casino revenue slightly declined by 1% to $12.38 billion, with table games dropping 8.3% to $2.42 billion. However, slot machine revenue increased by 1.3% to $9.1 billion.

Online gambling showed significant growth:

  • iGaming revenue jumped 30% to $2.08 billion across seven states
  • Sports betting revenue increased 42% to $3.24 billion
  • Through Q3, iGaming generated over $6 billion, representing 16.2% of physical casino revenue
  • Delaware led growth with 393% increase after partnering with Rush Street Interactive
  • Other iGaming markets showed 25-68% growth

Year-to-date highlights through Q3 2024:

  • Total commercial gaming revenue: $53.24 billion (up 8.0%)
  • Sports betting revenue: $9.96 billion (up 33.6%)
  • Traditional casino revenue: up 0.4% despite Q3 challenges

The industry remains on track for its fourth consecutive record revenue year, despite inflation impacts on consumer spending. Missouri is expected to become the 39th legal sports gambling state in 2025 following voter approval in November 2024.
