Iconic Mirage Las Vegas Atrium Demolished in Hard Rock Transformation
The iconic Mirage Las Vegas atrium is being demolished as part of the property's transformation into Hard Rock Las Vegas, despite initial renderings suggesting otherwise. The Seminole Tribe of Florida, which purchased the Mirage for $1.1 billion in December 2022, is overseeing the $4-5 billion renovation project.

The beloved atrium, designed by Steve Wynn, featured a rainforest-themed passageway with a cascading waterfall, towering palm trees, 100 varieties of exotic plants, and a 100-foot high domed skylight. It successfully created the illusion of a Polynesian paradise in the Mojave Desert.

While many visitors and fans have expressed disappointment over the atrium's removal, the decision aligns with Hard Rock's vision for the property. The demolition serves to prevent nostalgia for The Mirage from overshadowing the new resort's identity.

When complete in spring 2027, only the original casino structure, towers, and villas will remain from the former Mirage property. This transformation marks the end of an era for one of Las Vegas's most memorable architectural features.
